So, you know when your mom says “Don’t forget to put on sunscreen!!” And you roll your eyes, and walk out the door? That’s me every day. I had a secret vendetta against the stuff. The smell, having to apply it – I really could not, cannot be bothered with sunscreen.
Then…after never getting a single sunspot on my face…
- NO sunscreen smell
- Can’t look like a sunscreen bottle
- If it takes more than 2 seconds to apply…bye.
Being from Seattle, I had heard of Kari Gran a few times. Founded by Kari Gran and Lisa Strain, the duo continue to hand pour their incredible products inside a downtown Seattle loft. The oil based line is made using the finest organic, non-GMO ingredients, including natural plants and essential oils. Plus.. the entire Three Sixty Five skin care line contains zero water – ensuring your skin only gets the best ingredients. Wary of whether oils are right for you? Here’s what Kari Gran has to say about it:
Although oil-based cleansing is a new approach for many in American, it has been used by various cultures around the world for centuries. It provides a luxurious alternative to many detergent-based products designed to strip oil from the skin without replenishing it – succeeding only to signal the skin to make more oil.

The newest addition to the Three Sixty Five lineup is the Three Sixty Five SPF 28, which comes in two sizes, 30ML for $48 and 50ML for $75. I like to think of myself as an… unfrugle skin care buyer, but that is quite the penny for sunscreen, especially when it’s hard to tell if sunscreen is working or not…
This itty bitty pint sized thing contains so much goodness and happiness in one little bottle, it’s practically absurd. Three Sixty Five is a broad-spectrum facial sunscreen designed to be used 365 days of the year, rain or shine. Meaning this bad boy protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Less than a pump covers my face, and if I’m lazy it gets mixed right into my moisturizer. I thought there would be a smell, but I don’t smell anything even though this contains zinc. But the real question… what’s in an oily SPF?! Let me tell you:
- Red Raspberry Seed Oil
- French Plum Seed Oil
- Macadamia Nut Seed Oil
- Kukui Seed Oil
- Avocado Oil
- Jojoba Seed Oil
- Organic Beeswax
- Tocopherol (Non-GMO Vitamin E from Sunflowers)
- Zinc
Isn’t that crazy?! That’s all there is! Since Three Sixty Five SPF 28 is made primarily with oils, it takes some time to fully absorb into your face. Before, this would have been a huge deal breaker, but when I realized how incredible my skin feels after, I’ve decided I can deal with the extra application time.
Once I’ve given this bottle a good shake, I apply right on top of my usual skincare routine. I wait a few minutes to apply my primer and makeup. Generally, I’ll go start my morning tea or dance around the house. By that time, the SPF has soaked into my skin leaving a gorgeous glowing (but still slightly oily) sheen. Then I apply my primer, put on my make up and I’m good to go! UV RAYS CAN’T STOP ME NOW!
Want to know something else? Even without makeup, my face feels buttery smooth. With all those oils, how could it not?
After a gently applying to my skin, a slight white film from the zinc is still visible. After a few more rubs, the ghostly look will disappear.
I haven’t decide if I will rebuy Three Sixty Five SPF if when I run out of sunscreen. After close to 3 weeks of use, I’m pretty pleased with the results (or lack there of). The packaging is simple, clean and beautiful, and I don’t worry about the bottle exploding when I throw it in my gym bag or suitcase. Plus my makeup doesn’t go sliding all over my face!
You can buy Kari Gran products online and there’s talk of a store opening soon in Seattle, WA! If you buy any Kari Gran product from www.karigran.com, 1% of every dollar spent will be donated to WonderWork an organization committed to “saving the lives of children and their families by providing free, life-changing surgeries.” Pretty amazing to me!
What are your thoughts? Have you tried Kari Gran Three Sixty Five SPF 28, or do you use something different?
